HEAD COACH TUCKER HARGRAVES
HEAD COACH TUCKER HARGRAVES
Hailing from Castaic, CA and standing at 6'6, the owner of the cannon is Tucker Hargraves! One of the most passionate individuals who fell in love with volleyball in 1992. Coach Tucker found volleyball in high school, trying out for his freshman team, unfortunately not earning a spot, that didn't stop him. He worked on his volleyball skills and really developed a love for the sport not just as a volleyball fan and watching the Olympics and the NCAA Tournament while growing up and well into adulthood.
Earning a spot within his prestigious high school program as a sophomore in 2005, after the encouragement of his P.E. teacher who was also the varsity assistant coach, he busted his butt to learn a new skill. "I love playing volleyball it's one of the sports where you're solely judged on your abilities and skills, it has nothing to do with your lifestyle or physical looks. Plus who doesn't like proving people others wrong after their initial assessment of you?" - Coach Tucker.
Coach Tucker played at Valencia High School, in Valencia, CA one of the top tier boy's volleyball programs from 2005 to 2007 playing primarily as a middle blocker. Unsatisfied with being on the team, he worked hard in the off season to become a starter, his club seasons started Fall 2005 as a player, became a starting middle blocker on an 18's team at the age of 16 for SC Elite.
During his senior year, he played for Revolution Volleyball Club and maintained his starting position all throughout the club season and became an critical piece of the Valencia High school boy's volleyball program under the guidance of UCLA Men's Volleyball Alum Mark Knudsen. Though his season ended earlier than anticipated due to a right knee injury requiring surgery, he was a tremendous asset during the Vikings 2007 CIF Playoff run.
Tucker's coaching career started when he was fourteen years old, he was a YMCA youth basketball coach, which is natural being the child of two incredible coaches. His mother was a basketball coach and father coached ice hockey, so you can say it's literally in his blood. Throughout the last thirty years coach Tucker has both a direct and in-direct connection with volleyball. His passion for teaching a sport to others, providing life lessons, and strategies to problem-solve, think strategically and most importantly find a sense of community and family is something that he prides himself on.
