JUNIOR VARSITY
SWEETWATER TOURNAMENT
MARCH 6-7 (FRIDAY & SATURDAY)
Congrats to our Junior Varsity for placing 3rd in the Gold Division at the
Sweetwater JV Tournament going 4-1!

The CCA JUNIOR VARSITY Team will play in this two day tournament.
  • There is Pool Play on Friday.
  • There is Bracket Play on Saturday. Saturday schedules will be determined by the outcome of Friday's pools, so playing times and locations will not be available until late on Friday night.
FRIDAY INFORMATION:
  • Early release for bus: 1:30pm
  • All players must ride bus!
  • Playing Location: Sweetwater Union HS (ADDRESS: 2900 Highland Ave, National City, CA 91950) NOTE: Parking is most easily accessed BEHIND the high school (not from Highland Ave.). From the 54, turn right onto Highland, turn left on East 24th, turn left on F Ave ... parking entrance is at the end of F where it turns into the one way street "East 28th St". (Or at least that is what worked last weekend!)
  • Parents should not try to park or enter the school grounds until after classes let out just before 3pm. Remember, the traffic will be tough at that time of day on a Friday. If you arrive early, please wait nearby until the school traffic clears.
  • CCA's pool is playing in the "OLD GYM" ... which is located near the big "new" gym. Just ask for directions when you arrive.
  • This is a "fundraiser" for the sponsoring schools' volleyball programs. Spectator admission is $5 per person at the door ... CASH ONLY!
  • There is a small snack bar ... it is also cash only. Teri will be in touch with the parents to organize food for the team and coaches ... as the snack bar really didn't have any healthy options or good re-fueling choices for athletes.
  • No one was allowed to bring chairs into the gyms, but you can bring stadium seats. There was plenty of seating. The schools were very good about letting the teams bring food and coolers into the gyms ... and players & parents are expected to represent CCA well and make sure we do not leave any trash or messes!
  • There is a water bottle filling station. Be sure that you and the players bring your refillable bottles.

SATURDAY INFORMATION:
  • Parents responsible for driving players to and from tourney. There is no bus!
  • Playing Location: TBD based on Friday results
  • Players should look for text from the JV Coaches outlining Saturday playing location and arrival time. As a point of reference, at the varsity tourney, all teams either worked or played at 8:30am, 9am or 9:30am. The team will most likely need to be in the gym 1 hour prior to game time. (IF CCA FINISHES 1ST OR 2ND ON FRIDAY, THEY WILL RETURN TO THE SAME PLAYING LOCATION ON SATURDAY WITH AN 8:30AM PLAY TIME ... SO PROBABLY IN THE GYM AT 7:30AM. LOOK TO THE JV COACHES FOR CONFIRMED DETAILS ON FRIDAY NIGHT!)
  • Generally, most teams will play at least two matches on Saturday. If you keep winning in your bracket, you could play 3 or 4 matches. If you lose, you have to ref the following match. Matches are 2 out of 3. The first two sets are to 25 points ... if there is a third, it is to 15 (but the teams do NOT switch sides at 8).
